Le Plateau des 1000 Etangs, the 1000 ponds region is located in the south part of the Vosges Mountains called "Vosges Saônoises", Region Franche Comté. It looks like a little Plateau of 12 miles long and 15 miles large with more than 1500 ponds ! A very special place for geology, fauna and flora and it is the reason why it was classified Natura 2000 in order to be protected more an more.
